Be good. Be gentle. Be kind.
That’s what my brother and I heard throughout our childhood. Always the reminders to be our best selves.
And yet, everything is a balancing act. Accordingly, Mama advised us: “They’ll take your kindness as a weakness.” She told us too there is a time and place for everything. Sometimes anger – and action – is the best response.
