Tonight’s poem comes from the following IWWG (International Women’s Writing Guild) prompt:
The dead know everything.
For this week’s writing exercise, begin there. Or end there: write toward it. Or insert this breathtaking phrase in the middle of your piece (prose or verse).
the dead know everything
they understand you are
rage on the horizon
and you cannot find
the dead need nothing
not even fire
to ward off the hollowing
that comes when away
they only ask not to be forgotten
