Déjà

Have you ever seen yourself in a picture and didn’t recognize the setting or the people in it with you?

Déjà

I see something dark    moving
across from where
I sit in the light

I remember faces never seen
like the words I know
from a book I’ve never read

I find       at the cusp of sundering
a moment of clarity
like the mind just before
the sleep of exhaustion

there      there it is
something just outside recall
